Don't Put it Under the Bed

pink rose

Ever since I babysat on Tuesday, a thought has been ricocheting around in my mind. When I got to the family’s house, the husband and wife were apologizing for the “mess.” A house is not going to be in tip-top condition when the wife/mother has just undergone surgery and her husband and children have to keep up with things… I completely understand that! Somehow, talking about their house led to talking about their son. This little boy is the cutest thing (8 years old, I believe) and very sweet. From what I knew about him, I figured he would be a very neat young man. However, his family says that he shoves everything under his bed so that things appear neat.

When the dad said that, I started thinking, that’s just how we are sometimes in our spiritual lives. We have a problem with the sin (maybe that one that “so easily besets us” Heb. 12:1), and rather than cleaning it up, we shove it under the rug so that we appear to have it all together. I know I’m guilty of this one. It’s simply easier to “hide” it than it is to deal with it. How silly is that? What do we think? We’re hiding it from the Lord? The Saviour who made the heavens and earth? The Saviour who knows the end from the beginning? Hmm… I think not.

Look at these verses:

Hebrews 4:1: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Ephesians 4:22: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Colossians 3:8:But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Obviously, the Lord wants us to do more than hide our sins.

Hebrews 4:15: For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.

Isn’t it wonderful that our Saviour knows exactly what we’re going through?

I know I have posted several things today, but I really wanted to get this out while I was thinking about it.

Those are some good thoughts! When you compare it to something a little child does, it does seem silly doesn't it?

As answer to your question, I am doing my college online through a tech college. I am going for Medical Billing and Coding.
